  1. I SAW THE CLIQ XT!!! HAHA

  2. @The1andonlyBYack It’s so weird, I don’t know why the hell do so many Google employees use Macs! I know Mac OS X is based on Unix, but why won’t they use Linux?
It’s because Google decided to eliminate all Windows systems in their campus after an attack on their network (or something like that, I don’t remember). They gave their employees two options: Mac OS X or Linux. I have NO idea why so many of them picked Mac.

  3. @aj814 lol, ironic isn’t it? :D

  4. @2008PS3 LOL are you serious? Can I get the entire source code for iOS, modify it, compile it and then install it to an iPhone? Can I install a whole system without using Apple’s update format and whatever encryption/security they’ve implemented in order to block iOS hackers?
iOS source is not available and never will be.
iOS not only has superuser (root) disallowed, but Apple continues to try blocking hackers with more and more bullshit security.

  5. Hey it’s Mr. Googly!

  6. @RicardoLima1992
    symbian!

  7. google dun like microsoft and dun like apple, but they can’t work without them

  8. Vic Gundotra is an asshole. In less than four months, Google has gone completely back on their word, from this Utopian vision of Android to an Orwellian nightmare where Google controls all of the information and access to the devices. Android is garbage. Just a Trojan Horse for Google to mine more of our information.

  9. android is a more closed system than ios..that is if you have a brain and can think about it.

  10. @jossc I support opensource………… smart answer ;)

  11. @aj814 it’s the point. Oooooopen source!!!!!!! virtualization

  12. look at 3.35 ..u will see a mac !!!

  13. momentum, momentum, momentum, momentum!!!

  14. Go Android!

  15. i like the turn by turn nav.. tough i have to download the map as i go.. that costs.. why cant i store the parts of the map that i’ve been on?
at home i have wireless.. but on a trip i dont.. and carriers take a lot for DL

  16. What’s hilarious is that they harp on Apple so much yet almost all the users at their headquarters have an Apple laptop…LOL, that’s hilarious!

  19. @Uberware Yeah. “Don’t be evil” actually seems to get good results. It’s textbook capitalism in action: you do good, the customers like you, your business grows. I think it seems strange to us because it’s rare for big businesses to actually follow that plan. Most corporations start to think in terms of screwing competitors over as their main strategy. It’s the “if the customers have no other choices, they’ll have to choose us” approach. Thank you Google for continuing to follow plan A.

  20. All the Thumbs down must be Mac people

  21. @imperialdalek Your comment might seem sane, but we are talking about something very important here. The evolution and freedom of technology is threatened by the giant called Apple. The worst part is that Apple’s fans NEVER argue sanely – they argue as people who are religious extremists do. There is absolutely no reason to choose an iPhone over Android, other than perhaps liking the design, or the new “retina” screen, wich has been beaten by the Samsung galaxy s. The iPhone(s) are inferior.

  22. @imperialdalek No it’s not.

  23. @TheLifeofphi Eat a dick.

  24. At 3:36 he walks past a MacBook Pro. Hmm… there using there enemies product! Cool?

  25. @TheLifeofphi…..GREAT POINT!!!!! Many people criticize Apple but you cannot be mad at them for starting the madness. It was a great and creative idea that others wish they would have thought of first.

  26. Wow. I wish I were good at application development but as I watched the demo, so many questions are spawned by his activity that I get bogged down in the details of how it all works.
Kinda stinks b/c I have some good ideas I’d like to see get to application.

  27. @Photon98 It’s because they prefer MacOS. Java is multiplatform. It compiles as needed on a virtual processor so the platform is a matter of choice. Develop anywhere and run anywhere which has a java virtual machine. I like to use Linux because it doesn’t make me want to rip my teeth out with pliers and set fire to my bloody gums. But that’s just me.

  28. Nice job. I’m a new developer and have been cutting my teeth writing AS3, and JavaScript — JavaScript is by far the most frustrating since it’s an interpreted language and each browser ‘interprets’ it a little different. I have Eclipse on my machine now. How hard is it to get the Android SDK and load it into the multi-view environment?

  29. Hey so im a complete noob…i have the sdk and eclipse and stuff but i dont really know how to get started. My guess would be to learn about java and xml but are there any videos or general things i should learn to help me start developing?

  30. I noticed many of android developer use Mac OS (not windows) , why is it so?
Is there any special meaning to it?

  31. @Qwaybabii
Yeah i got confused too, its like Unicode string going unmapped .

  32. @Qwaybabii
its [ ] and what he uses them for is to make an array for the contact names

  33. You lost me at Hello.

  34. how can i make this app and just put it on my phone

  35. so what are those boxes after string and int

  36. hello. im not much of a programer. well cus i suck -.- and scared that i might mess up something. but like there are lots of tranlating apps. but is there an app. out there that actually changes a language setting or adds a language setting? im learning chinese. but the traditional characters (taiwanese) not simplifed. and when i would go on a tranlater app. it would only have chinese(simplifed) not traditional. please help. is there an app out there that can change the language setting?

  37. A thinner gabe newell!

  38. So it looks like your using Mac, do you think Mac is best for development for Android or just something with comparable hardware. Excellent presentation. It seems fairly simple but may need a bit slower approach for new developers. However overall great presentation…

  39. Hey, New Devloper here. So don’t mind my noob babble.
But to confront what was said by whitecheese9 – the iPhone market is limited like others have said. The Android market is stil small, but increasing rapidly. I being a registered Apple Developer to design iPhone Applications, can say that productivity is being lowered and I only see a few good applications cpmpared to the rest of the applications on the App Market.

I love Andriod because it is an open source development. :D

  40. I didn’t understand everything but I really liked the presentation. Comparatively, other presenters on youtube are horrible

  41. I wish I had a Cactuar in my office.

  42. Great work and presentation.

  43. Very nice, but how do you get the code to pop up that quick? (Cursor C, string etc..)

  44. @rxbanditboy1112 ohhhh SNAPPP!!! you shut down that dude pretty hard XD good job man !

  45. @whitecheese9 Ha no offense man, but do your research. First off, most people are programming apps in both markets. Secondly, it’s smarter to be making Android Apps since in the next 5 years I can guarantee they’ll be bigger than iPhone. And in the next probably 15 years, Google will be bigger than Microsoft and Apple.

  46. what the h. is Phones.CONTENT_URI.addId?

isn’t CONTENT_URI supposed to be a constant? how do you add stuff to a constant? I am getting errors in my project.

  47. Mac arent that expensive. My sister paid over 1100 $ for a windows vista laptop. She could have had a iMac or macbook pro instead. And i have a pc whit vista when i could have had a Mac instead. But when i bough it i didnt know what mac or apple was.

  48. Can? I use a PC to make an Android App?

  49. @whitecheese9 a) the fact that you need to have a mac to make iphone related things pisses people off. b) the iphone is a limited market, ie. people who have at&t and have an iPhone. how about all the people who hate at&t? how about all the people on at&t that don’t want an iphone (oh yea there probably aren’t any). c) you no longer need to use these developer tools to make apps. You can develop your app once and itll work everywhere, including iphone

  50. @tHebadteen No I would like to make one, but if I had a Mac I would be making a iPhone game
