I connected the playstation 3 to the TV and it said I needed an ethernet cable. I didn’t think I needed an ethernet cable since I have wireless internet. Can someone please help me out? Im clueless when it comes to this stuff.

do not worry, it asked me the same thing.
what i did was went to network settings, select custom > wireless > scan for signal, there should be a list of sorry (sorry cannot remember much) put your information of your wireless internet and your ps3 should be connected.
you should be able to download netflix, make an account, free trial for a month then .99 per month
