How to check the type of ram you have and other ram related questions?

Question by Connor: How to check the type of ram you have and other ram related questions?
I want to upgrade the RAM on my computer, first off, where can you see what kind you have? Is the only way to open up the computer and actually look? Also, how much would 2gb of RAM cost on average, 3gb of RAM? I can’t go above that since I’m running 32-bit, i dont know if you need to know, but I’m running a Compaq laptop with windows vista home premium.

Go to this website and run the two tools at top to find the maximum ram memory modules your system will support, correct memory modules, what your system has now. You can also order, look at prices.

  1. Im not sure on how to check but here is a site that sells RAM and other stuff

    http://www.newegg.com/Store/Category.aspx?Category=17&name=Memory

the RAM there is really cheap check it out

  2. You can find your RAM in: Control Panel > Performance Information and Tools.
If you want to buy RAM, you have to pay money for someone to install it (unless you can do it on your own), so it can cost more than you think.
