Asus Eee Slate EP121 – 2011 Computer Tablet Personal Review

This is a quick personal review for the Asus Slate EP121. If you guys are interested on this tablet, I suggest you do some research and ask yourself why would you need a tablet PC. This baby works well with Photoshop CS5, Painter 11, ZBrush and amongst other programs. I will be uploading another video using Photoshop for Digital Painting.
Video Rating: 4 / 5

ncix.com I’m impressed. I really like this tablet… The UI only took me about 15 mins to go from awkward and horrible to completely natural. Outstanding. I’ve never even used a touhscreen blackberry product before either!

  1. @thlin Not luxury… at least for me it isn’t. I have done my digital painting and this has helped tremendously. I can connect it to my tv or other HD displays to extend the monitor when working with more than one project ( using photoshop) and it works great. I don’t see myself carrying around a citiq as easily as I can with this tablet. I guess it depends on what you really need it for in order to judge the product.

  2. @antihak lol, tablet is 100 percent luxury When tablet have a real purpose to can actually use it for. Then I will buy it.

  3. @thlin Damn! But can you bring it to school!? Or college!? ANd take out the stylus and start sketching on it in fron of your mates and make an evil laugh!? Your system wont be able to do it :) even though its a performance machine, it wont be able to do it! You see, u can compare a melon to an apple. compare your pc setup to some other pc setups, this is a totally different thing. :) peace

  4. @thlin But you could not use it as a Tablet if you wanted to.

  5. damn for a thousand dollars i can get a i7 2630, 17 inch 1080p, 4/8gb 500gb 7200, NVIDIA gt 525m

  6. they have to work on getting a better battery life. i dont want to get a larger battery pack. That would just make it bulky. its not worth getting it if its going to be some big ass machine.

  7. Better than ipad 2

  8. @61226122 I think it has the Wacom 500 pen pressure, its the same like any tablet PC
I think you should check wacom.com

  9. @crazykidkieran £999.99 to be exact

  10. @crazykidkieran It’s not just a tablet, but the most powerful tablet, that costs.

  11. Ok I want 1!

  12. I always wish I could get this type of tablet / computer, nice video! :)

  14. @Chauncy1997
you can play Battlefield, WoW, CoD4. sims newest version…
    minecraft is a joke. =)

  15. i like your review. but i feel the speed of note taking is not fast enough in class.
    maybe because of the sensitivity?

  16. Can you play minecraft on this

  17. When the pricepoint on these units gets down to the ipad range, then i’ll consider it. the reason for the battery life is the intel core processor.

  18. @MULTIMEDlA just i want to know if pen pressure works with photoshop and other softwares. i have motion tablet pc and it doesnt have pen sensitivity… let me know if you have another video that shows pen sensitivity on photoshop… thanks…

  26. hmm i just went to fat pie dot com at work… ahh yeah – not the same as your fat pie I’m guessing ? ;)

  27. Awesome vid man. Thanks for the info. I was kinda trying to decide which one of these to purchase.

  28. @linustechtips hi Linus i was just wondering if you would put a antivrius on this and what would you use? is it the same one you´d put on a laptop??

  29. You can edit URL parts in iOS, just hold for a second and magnifiying glass will show, and then you can move in text

  30. @TheCasiuss I’m not the one going and saying that flash has a interface separation from its video playback functionality. That’s totally up to the website. Ever wonder why all flash videos dont have the same UI on every single site? Your an idiot.

  31. Referee! call him a foul!

  32. You know what gets me.. Why isn’t NCIX tech tips on cable? Wait… Nevermind. I keep forgetting that 95% of America’s, not the world’s population is stupid. People keep saying 95% of the world is stupid. Not true in the least bit– Wait I take that back because I’m sure there’s more ignorance out there in the world than just 95% of one country lol

  33. you dont have to retype on ios either.. just press and hold..

  34. check out my computer MOD on my channel!!!!!!

  35. @TheKevin9000

I think you should do your homework first before you start posting on the internet ;)
Flash is a video playback codec? If this is really what you think flash is, this conversation is over…

  36. @TheCasiuss

Flash isn’t made for cursors its a video playback codec. The Youtube interface and flash are two completely different things you moron.

  37. @CaptainP00face the market will spend on whats hot. if people paid for shit…. people will make and sell shit.

  38. It’s rather ironic everyone was flaming the iPad when it first got released, lots of complaining how ‘unnecessary’ it was.

And now, all of a sudden, we are getting spammed with PC tablets.

  39. to all interested. Visit fatpie.com and WTF?!

  40. Linus making a video of Linus watching a video of Linus. I think that just created a new black hole in space somewhere!

  41. Welcome back linus!!, good you got rid of that hacker

  42. You see linus , try 360 browser . Every video in flash can be watched from ani idevice now ;) ) .

  43. @klejka80 dude you dont need more memory with the icloud :D

  44. what about the markets and apps that’s kind of a big part of tablets and phones so you should go over those things too

  45. And this is why the iPad doesnt support flash.
Flash is made for mouse cursers, not for thumbs or fingers.

  46. on the other hand i would love to see a tablet that i can upgrade the drive memory myself. 64gb is pocket change. then $700 for 64gb???? hmmmmm
how about 500Gb for like $499. I like that better. perhaps i should build my own tablet just like I build my own pcs. what do you think?

  47. thanks linus. trying to decide what tablet to get. im torn between ipad2. now the blackberry ughhhh! but…for the iapds sake…the next ios5 will feature the split keyboard. so it will split itself in 2 so that you can type with just your thumbs. this only makes my decision harder. good job as always linus.

  48. @asgiov The Playbook uses the Texas Instruments OMAP 4430. GPU wise the SGX543 in the iPad 2 is around 1.5x faster in graphics intensive scenarios than the SGX540 in the Playbook. But in CPU power, the Playbook is superior to the iPad 2.

  49. what website did you go to?

  50. @UberSpieler
    Right…
It has double the memory.. that’s true…
But the iPad 2 has a dedicated Duel Core GPU. The same one being used in the Sony NGP…
Although the NGP will have a Quad Core version of the GPU. But many reviews I’ve read on the Playbook say, while it looks good, it’s still lacking in many ways. Josh Topulsky at thisismynext gave it a 7/10.. while giving the ipad 2 a 9/10. Cnet gave the playbook 3.5/5 and iPad 2 4/5. I think the iPad 2 just has more.
