Internet Movies Goes to TV
Now, you can enjoy internet movies in the TV. This week Roku Inc., a small maker of Internet-connected media devices introduced Netflix, so you can enjoy internet movies in your TV.
You just plug Netflix Player to the TV, and put it on contact with home broadband connection over Wi-Fi or a cable. Then, you pick a movie you want to watch. The download will be started. After finishing, you may watch internet movies in your TV.
Beside Netflix Player, there are some devices that’s same function, like: Apple TV and Vudu Inc. Compare with other products, Roku Netflix Player is cheaper. The cost is $99.99. After you subscribe it, you don’t have to pay extra money to watch many internet videos if your monthly plan is $8.99 or more.
On the other hand, you should pay $229 if you want services from Aple Inc and you should rent movies from iTunes with the cost’s $2.99 to $4.99 per item. While, Vudu Inc. sells the player for $295 and it has similar rental prices. If you use its product, Vudu Inc. lets you download movies from Amazon.com. Remember that you just have 24 hours to watch the movies. If you need more time, you must pay the rental fee again.
Netflix also licenses the movies from the studios. The movies are not for downloading, but for streaming. It makes Netflix has fewer “big” movies available. They take longer time to show up the movies after they leave theaters.
The quality of the movies are different, based on the movies and the speed of the internet connection. If you connect the player to the Internet using Wi-Fi, the speed of the download is about between 1 mbps to 2.2 mbps.
However, the Apple TV and Vudu are not very dependent on your internet connection speed. The reason is they contain hard drives which’s able to store a movie if the connection is slow, so you can still watch it.
The other lack of Netflix Player is its annoying feature. Reversing and fast-forwarding needs very long time. You need a minute to download the movies from Netflix. But, if you skip back 10 seconds to listen again, it needs much longer time.
