Great video Gavin!
Was the background 18% grey, like a grey card?
This was incredibly helpful. Thank you.
Nice Wireless trigger. I have the same brand. rf-620. They are so reliable and cost efficient. Great tut.!!
@PhotoGavin – couldn’t you do the same with a white background?
Thanks for a great video, I did not know that the grey background can be used to create most colors. This will help me tremendously.
hi gavin great video just wondered what canon camera and lens were you using for this video and what do you mainly use for you portraits, thanks in advance
Great video sir!
I was wondering if you could make a tutorial on multi layer stencils? I found a couple of videos on the web … but yours are far clearer and simpler to follow. Thanks
@brajakisoradasgkg
I shouldn’t do that if I were you, buy a green screen. It’s particular made for such purposes. If you use a grey background, and edit is with lets say the Replace Color tool in PhotoShop, you might edit colors of you’re model as well because they always have some grey or black pixels like hair or shadows. A green screen has a particular green color rarely used on clothes so you will only replace the background and don’t have to worry about your subject. Try Google it.
This gives you creativity!
I hear all photographers say that Nikon is by far better than Canon. Do you agree on that?
Anyway super nice video
love it!
Great photographer and wonderful model. Gavins videos are so positive and inspiring.

@PhotoGavin Gavin I just bought a white background but I cant seem to hide the wrinkles. Have you any ideas/ Also is it best to have the flash at a height behind the model instead of on the ground like I have been doing?
Gavin, don’t you think it would be better to make a portrait standing at around 5m. distance from the model?
She’s not much of a smiler.
