when writing a song, write about what you really feel b/c if you write about something you don’t feel anything about, the effect just isn’t there
if you feel strongly about something you’re writing and the audience hears it through your voice, they too will feel what you are feeling, and that is what makes a good song
there doesn’t have to be a rhyme or pattern, as long as your message gets through (though rhyming helps make a song catchy)
also when writing, just write whatever comes to mind and keep the pen or pencil moving…you can edit later
you want to make sure that the flow keeps going
also, every time somethings comes to mind, write it down (it could be that part one of your songs is missing)
also, like my creative writing teacher always said : “there is no wrong, just write.”

  1. a song is 100% what your feeling at the time, you can just repeat what you said in different words ….for instance

    peel me from the skin
    tear me from the rhine
    does it make you happy?

basicly saying twice that your taking him away from w/e, but you get the point.

another thing, once you say what your trying to say, you can say why you sing what you do

    whats my realease,
    what sets me free,
do you pull me up just to push me down again
    – happy? by mudvayne

so basicly your saying what you said previously but why its good/bad

but basicly your saying your emotion, words that describe it, the story, and why you do what you do

    hope it helped :D
