What are some good tricks I could teach my Australian Cattle Dog?
Question by Amy: What are some good tricks I could teach my Australian Cattle Dog?
He is about three years old, and he is just eager to learn.
He already knows: sit, stay, come, down, roll over, shake, wave, speak, which hand (picks which hand the treat is in).
What other tricks do you think would be good? If you could include the instructions on how to teach him as well. And any website addresses would be great. Thank you.
I forgot to mention that Australian Cattle Dogs have a few different names. The most common other name is Queensland.

Tie a towel on the fridge handle and have him pull it open to get you a beer.

My uncle has an aussie cattle dog, and when my uncle says “snorky, snorky!” the dog runs under his legs while he’s sitting, and growls.

Those dogs are great agility dogs. Even if you don’t do it as a sport, you can buy or even make your own agility equipment, or something similar.
You can teach your dog to jump through a hoop. Start out with the hula hoop on the ground and him walking through it, and eventually have him jump through as it gets higher.
Sometimes people use obedience commands and “dance” with their dogs to music. You can probably find videos of this on youtube. You have the dog do the commands you taught him, and others usually used are the dog jumping through a hoop, or walking on hind legs, or teaching him to weave back and forth between your legs as you walk.
