  1. speak, shake hands, sit……roll over. it takes a lot of patience and time, doing the tricks over and over again, and when they do the trick even if you are physically helping them do it reward them with a treat.

  2. roll over and sit. I taught her with discipline and rewards like treats.

  3. risc his live for mine grow up with him thatb how you tech him to do it

  4. Sit, stay, come, shake, high five, when I say bang bang and point my finger at him like a gun he falls over. It is so funny. I taught him all this when he was a pup. I just took a handful of his dog food and took him into a room w/no distractions. I would help him do the trick and give him a piece of food. Eventually, he learned and did it on his own. Now he will do the tricks with or without food. He just wants to impress everyone. Unfortunately, my other dog that I adopted when he was older won’t learn any tricks.

  5. As for tricks, my dog will shake, high five, wave bye bye, sing, dance, and push a shopping cart. We are trying to teach him to say his prayers. I am a dog trainer and, now that he has his basics down pat, we teach tricks. I would highly recommend going to a regular obedience class first if your dog has trouble with the basics. Once your dog knows that, then try a class specifically for tricks. PETSMART offers a click-a-trick class that sounds like it would be right up your alley. You get to have one-on-one time with your dog, he gets to socialize, and you get demonstrations and help from a certified trainer.
No dog is too old to learn and is only limited by his body. For example, if you have a dog with bad hips, which can be any age, you want to keep him from physically demanding tricks, like ones that involve jumping. In most cases, yes a dog can learn more than trick at a time. However, if you are teaching your dog to do something by a technique called catching (catching him in the act, like sneezing or something) it is important that you work on one thing at a time until you have a solid cue for your dog. Once again, a trainer can explain this all to you in depth.
If you don’t want to go to a class, an OK reference is a book called Dog Tricks for Dummies. I only use it in my classes for basic ideas, but it works in a pinch. Good luck!
